Howell Planet-B  DIN 8–22  bindings with F1 valve springs are only for strong, fast, extreme skiers and racers.

   Limited production.

Light, high-strength aluminum housings provide unmatched-durability and edge-control.  This super-durable material comes at a price:  Howell Planet-B bindings are the most expensive ski-bindings in the world:  $1,200.

Maximum edge-control.  NO pre-release.  Howell Planet-B bindings uniquely provide a shortened lever-arm between the forward-release pivot (the leading edge of the Teflon-AFD) and the heel-cup.  A shortened lever-arm requires a higher hold-down force at the heel to maintain a given forward-release moment.  Higher hold-down force at the heel provides greater edge control, setting-for-setting.  This higher hold-down force — together with super-wide, cantilevered, toe-AFD’s and heel-pads, toe cups and heel cups — cause Howell SkiBindings to provide 18% more edge control than any other binding, setting-for-setting.  This unique magnitude of edge-control mitigates chatter that can be felt even when carving on water-injected-ice race conditions.

CAUTION:  DIN 8-22 Howell Planet-B is The Real Deal.

Details:

Unique Functional Decoupling (sm) provides maximum anti-pre-release.  No vertical toe release;  no multi-directional toe-release — to decisively mitigate pre-release.  Lateral-heel release can be user-blocked at the top ‘BLOCK’ (lock-out) setting.  Non-corroding 303 stainless steel inner workings provide durable, reliable, long-term strength.

For more info about how Howell Planet-B DIN 8–22 bindings deliver maximum retention, see:  Menu —> Tech Info —> Retention.

Patented, super-low, 21.5 mm stand-height allows just about any lifter while still complying with FIS stand-height regulations.  Low stand-height reduces chronic / cumulative stress on meniscus, MCL, ACL and tibial-plateau.

0° ramp-angle (internal boot ramp angle affects net stance).

Deep-retracting brakes prevent boot-out.

Floating Mounting System plus additional 5th and 6th mounting screws for toes and heels minimize mounting-screw pull-outs.

Super durable.
Super anti-pre-release.

Howell Planet-B.

*** Howell SkiBindings is against (a) ski waist widths greater than 90mm  AND  (b) all 'pin-bindings' (except Trab TR2 and Shift — though do not fall in the touring-mode and neither are ACL-friendly in the alpine-mode) — due to their association with severe, high-energy tibia-plateau fractures.  This type of skiing injury matches the growth of fat-skis and pin-bindings.  The high-energy nature of this type of fracture involves multiple-fragments, difficult surgical reconstruction, and 10 to 15-months of aggressive rehabilitation.  Fat skis on firm snow are a serious problem for the sustainability of our beautiful sport.  ‘And ‘pin-bindings’ are hardly “tech”.
